Let's Make a Chocolate Iced Coffee Protein Smoothie!
To make this energizing breakfast smoothie, first grab your blender and the ingredients listed in this recipe. To start off, add one medium frozen banana to your blender along with some greek yogurt. Next, add a scoop of nut butter, a teaspoon of cacao powder, vanilla extract and a pinch of cinnamon. Lastly, measure out ⅔ cup iced coffee and add to your blender. Now just blend the ingredients until smooth and creamy!
Before serving, I like to drizzle date syrup around the inside edges of my drinking glass. This added detail looks and tastes amazing! Substitute chocolate syrup if you don't have date syrup.

Everything You'll Need
- Frozen Banana: This recipe calls for frozen ripe banana to add creaminess and a natural sweetness to this easy coffee smoothie!
- Iced Coffee: Cold brew, store-bought iced coffee or hot coffee that you let chill in a mug at home will all work in this recipe. The key is to use coffee that has been chilled so it keeps your smoothie cold!
- Greek Yogurt: A serving of plain or vanilla greek yogurt makes this smoothie extra creamy and adds protein. Substitute a dairy-free yogurt to make this recipe dairy-free and vegan!
- Nut Butter: Adding a spoonful of creamy nut butter helps mask the banana flavor and you guessed it, adds more plant-based protein!
- Cacao Powder: To make this iced coffee protein smoothie chocolatey, we're going to add some cacao powder or cocoa powder. Either one works!
- Pure Maple Syrup: This natural sweetener is a healthy option that keeps this smoothie low in sugar and better for you than your sugary drive-thru morning latte.
- Vanilla Extract: You'll love adding vanilla extract to this smoothie especially if you enjoy an iced vanilla latte. Vanilla extract makes any recipe extra special.
- Cinnamon: If you love cinnamon like we do, add a pinch to bring out the sweet and nutty flavor in this delicious smoothie.
- Protein Powder, optional: Do you want even more protein in this healthy smoothie? You can add a scoop of your favorite protein powder! We don't use protein powder very often so I leave it out, but you can definitely add some if you'd like.
- Date Syrup or Chocolate Syrup: This ingredient is kinda optional, but highly recommended if you love chocolate. This date syrup is my absolute favorite and I could put it on almost anything! It tastes very similar to chocolate sauce in this smoothie and it's refined sugar free since it's only made from dates.
