These sprinkle sugar cookies are soft, chewy and delicious! Colorful sprinkles are mixed into the cookie dough and each cookie is topped with extra sprinkles on top for decoration. These sugar cookies with sprinkles have a sweet, vanilla flavor and are perfect to make for a birthday or celebration! 

Ingredients

1/2 cup salted butter, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/3 cup sprinkles, plus more for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, and lighter in color. This may take several minutes.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixing bowl and beat until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a smooth cookie dough forms.
  6. Fold in the sprinkles and mix until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Scoop the cookie dough with a small to medium-sized cookie scoop and roll it into balls. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Gently press the top of each dough ball into a small bowl filled with extra sprinkles for decoration.
  9. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown. This recipe makes 12 cookies.
  10. Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
