Why You’ll Love This No Churn Ice Cream With Oreos
My favorite thing about this ice cream is that it combines two family favorites. First, no one can turn down milk and cookies. This is such a classic combo and reminds me of childhood. Second, I think it’s safe to say that many of us love to treat ourselves to a chocolate sandwich cookie or an Oreo from time to time.
Adding Oreos to sweet vanilla ice cream makes a simple recipe fun and delicious! Plus, mashing up the cookies in a sandwich bag is pretty cathartic so that’s another reason you should get in the kitchen and whip up this recipe!
How To Make Ice Cream With Condensed Milk
You’ll need a can of condensed milk to make any no-churn ice cream. This thick, sticky sweet milk adds sweetness and rich texture to homemade ice cream. You can use any brand of condensed milk as long as the can is 14oz.
How Much Heavy Whipping Cream Should You Use?
Many no-churn ice cream recipes call for only 2 cups of heavy whipping cream. I find this ratio to be much too sweet and I can only take one or two bites. For this reason, I recommend increasing the heavy whipping cream to 3 cups. You can use up to 4 cups of heavy whipping cream if you don't like overly sweet desserts, but the consistency will be less rich and more like whipped cream.
Freezing Tips
An easy way to freeze your no-churn ice cream is to spread it evenly into a baking dish. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 10 hours or overnight.
When you’re ready to eat your dreamy chocolate and vanilla ice cream, pull out the baking dish from the freezer and let it rest on the counter until it begins to soften. This is key to getting light and creamy scoops of ice cream.
If you try to scoop your ice cream immediately after removing it from the freezer, you won’t get nice soft scoops. Definitely think ahead and let it sit for a few minutes before enjoying.
